The Reason have been “attack"ing (get it?! See the picture?!) a studio in Asheville, North Carolina with new music. And they want you to be able to keep up with the battle! Check out http://www.thereason.ca for videos, pictures, blogs and updates from “The Canadians” as they are known in Asheville. They look like they’re having a pretty good time south of the border… hopefully we can convince them to come back to Canada once they are finished recording!

A little update from Adam and the band.
Well that time is finally upon us. This evening we are embarking on a twelve and a half hour journey to beautiful Asheville, North Carolina to begin recording the new album. We have narrowed it down to 12 songs, and believe it or not, I actually think we’re ready. I don’t think we’ve ever been this ready. Its a good feeling. By this time tomorrow we’ll be loading all our gear into Echo Mountain Studios, a 1920’s church that has been converted into one of raddest studios around. We’ll also be meeting up with Steve Haigler, the man who is producing the record, and the man we will be living with collectively for the next month. Its going to be like nothing we’ve ever experienced. We’re gonna share it all with you guys via daily journal, photo and video blogs. The Reason punched into the Top 100 at the CMJ Radio Report Charts this week, their third on the charts. They are sitting pretty at #97.

West 49 has created their AMBITION Flow Skate DVD of their riders from this year. The DVD features Sick City, The Reason and Sights & Sounds. The Film is premiering this weekend and will then be available free with purchase (of what, i’m not sure… something skate-y i presume) at West 49 stores throughout Canada.

I could make some stupid outdated quip about drugs or whatever here, but i won’t. I’ve realised that no one gives a shit about the quixotic rumblings of an aging punk ass. So just the facts you yell…oh yes, just the facts. This week, the second that The Reason is on the CMJ charts, the young lads from Hamilton reached #106 on the glorious CMJ Charts. Thats up from their debut on the Charts last week at #127.

In their first week at US College and Specialty Radio, The Reason have made a nice fat impact - debuting on the CMJ Charts at #127. What does that mean? Well for debuts, it’s higher than Mates of State, Thrice and Aimee Mann. Go!Go!GO!

Big week this is. The Reason have entered the world of Big Music Stars as their song We’re So Beyond This (feat. Sara Quin) entered the HOT AC charts this week at #50. This is on the heels of CHUM Radio selecting them as their Artist of the Month.

At this year’s Hamilton Music Awards, hometown heroes The Reason picked up the award for People’s Choice Canadian Album of The Year.
Congratulations! Thanks to all those that voted for the band.
Classically though, the band screwed up the ceremony - i’ll leave it to their own hands to describe the goof:

So we were in the audience, and the two awards we knew we were nominated for, People’s Choice local band of the year and alternative album of the year came and went, and were won by 40 Sons and Daughters and Caribou, respectively. Congrats goes out to both of those bands. So as the awards went on one by one we all ended up in the lobby bar at Hamilton Place. It was near the end of the show when Cam got a call from his buddy Matt from The Saint Alvia Cartel to say basically “get your asses in here you just won an award - Canadian Recording of the Year”. We of course, being cynical bastards, didn’t believe him at first. Cam calls him back, it turns out he was telling the truth, that we did actually win the award and that we were holding up the whole show. So we go backstage, get the award, are stoked that we won, but feel like idiots that we weren’t in the room for the ceremony. Even though we didn’t know we were nominated, we still should have been there and we have no excuse. We apologize to the Hamilton Music Awards for not being there and holding up the show. We are truly sorry.
