CBK’s present bass player, Kevin Call, has officially announced that he will be leaving the band. See below for Kevin’s statement that was posted today.
We wish Kevin all the best in everything he does in the future.

My Final Goodbye
Well friends, the time has come for yet another member of the CBK crew to say goodbye. Currently, Comeback Kid are about to play Berlin on what will be my last tour with the band. Life has called on me to go in a different direction - one that no longer involves playing bass guitar in Comeback Kid. These past few years with this band have been the best years of my life. I’ve seen some amazing places, made some amazing friendships all over the world, and have grown so much as a result of playing in this band. I thank Andrew, Kyle, Jeremy, Scott, and Casey for giving me the privlege of creating music and performing worldwide with them. I also thank every person who has ever played a part in this band - whether you did a stage dive, bought a record, or put forth effort to make Comeback Kid the band it is today. I wish the rest of the dudes the best of luck. We will be playing what will be my last shows in mid-December, including a show in my hometown of Minneapolis. So keep an eye out for those. Thanks. See you around.

At this year’s Hamilton Music Awards, hometown heroes The Reason picked up the award for People’s Choice Canadian Album of The Year.
Congratulations! Thanks to all those that voted for the band.
Classically though, the band screwed up the ceremony - i’ll leave it to their own hands to describe the goof:
—————
So we were in the audience, and the two awards we knew we were nominated for, People’s Choice local band of the year and alternative album of the year came and went, and were won by 40 Sons and Daughters and Caribou, respectively. Congrats goes out to both of those bands. So as the awards went on one by one we all ended up in the lobby bar at Hamilton Place. It was near the end of the show when Cam got a call from his buddy Matt from The Saint Alvia Cartel to say basically “get your asses in here you just won an award - Canadian Recording of the Year”. We of course, being cynical bastards, didn’t believe him at first. Cam calls him back, it turns out he was telling the truth, that we did actually win the award and that we were holding up the whole show. So we go backstage, get the award, are stoked that we won, but feel like idiots that we weren’t in the room for the ceremony. Even though we didn’t know we were nominated, we still should have been there and we have no excuse. We apologize to the Hamilton Music Awards for not being there and holding up the show. We are truly sorry.

A great review of the new Sick City CD - Nightlife - online now.
—————
Sick City should be huge. At least, they could be. Right now the band are in their infancy, youngest member just 19, but if what they’ve already achieved in such a short time is anything to go by then the promise and potential here is substantial indeed.
Not everything about Sick City suggests impending eminence. The band- drummer Joel Neufeld, guitarists Dorian Paszkowski and Dave Grabowski, bassist T.J. Stevenson and frontman Josh Youngson- formed from the ashes of several other low-level acts in their local Winnipeg area and the Canadians have bizarrely toured with Papa Roach. However, from their natty threads to their infuriatingly catchy yet original tunes, everything else screams success.
Good looks and good hooks aren’t the only qualities these boys are equipped with either. They’ve got ‘Nightlife’, a debut full-length overflowing with style and confidence. They’ve built up a high-pitched buzz, plenty of online outlets and Alternative Press magazine naming Sick City a band to watch. And they’ve got great connections too- Neufeld’s brother, Comeback Kid singer Andrew, helped them secure their first shows, From Autumn To Ashes dug them enough to invite them on tour and Trustkill Records have put plenty of hard cash behind their progress. And, like all the best pop groups, there’s no labyrinthine history to swot up on here either, Sick City have packed all this stuff into the last 12 months. And yep, you heard us right, this is a pop band.
Oh sure, Sick City may have hit the road with the odd metalcore band and feature a few heavy beats and intricate, original guitar lines of their own. But this is definitely pop music. It’s the sort of stuff that tempts the fellas who’ve twiddled knobs for Jimmy Eat World to put the finishing touches to your record. It’s the sort of stuff that would have saved Top Of The Pops from the cutting room floor. And it’s just the right sound to have fans of Foo Fighters jumping out their seats, Story Of The Year supporters dancing like idiots in super-sized arenas and the MCRmy going mad.
They may not be in the same league as any of those big names just yet, for now they don’t even have the right songs for superstardom, but if the band can keep it together and keep getting better, pretty soon everyone will be singing on the streets of Sick City.

This has nothing to do with anything smallman. Just a good site where you can waste away your hours trying to prove to yourself how smart you are. And as an added bonus, you are helping to feed people. Hey, smart guy…

The third single from The Reason’s CD “Things Couldn’t Be Better” was released to commercial radio this past week, and it’s already getting some great play. It has been added to Kiss FM (where it was #31 this past week) and 88.5 Live in Ottawa (where it was #21), and The Freq in Winnipeg. It’s also getting spins in Kingston, London and Edmonton. The video is getting some spins at MuchMusic and at Much Loud it was #42 on their charts. Yay Team!

While in Toronto on the Boys Night Out Tour, the band was interviewed by ETalk Daily. What grace! What Stars! But what the hell happened to TJ? The early morning interview (11am…, come on) caught TJ off guard and he was abnormally quiet.

Vancouver’s five-piece melodic hardcore band DAGGERMOUTH will be on tour with Drive Thru Records’ recording artist I Am The Avalanche (formerly The Movielife) November 17 to December 15 throughout the United States. To put it mildly, Daggermouth is thrilled. “Touring with I Am the Avalanche means a lot to us. The Movielife was a band that we all loved when we were kids and every night with the Avalanche is a party! Basically what I’m trying to say is that touring with the Avalanche is like having Christmas morning everyday!” tells guitarist Kenny Lush.
Daggermouth is touring in support of their album Turf Wars, released this year through Smallman Records.
